Audiovisual Combination and Expression in Experimental Animation

I would like to study the inter-translation between the language of visual and the language of music in Experimental Animation. I would investigate how this musical visualization drives narrative, or emotional reinforcement.

It will be based on the case analysis and content analysis.
The focus is to analyze and summarize how the Experimental Animation presents musical visual effects by comparing the language of association between auditory art and visual art. Finally, discuss the practical significance and influence of music visual effects on animation creation.

The previous topic is Audiovisual Combination and Expression in Experimental Animated Music Video
In this area I want to study the application of abstract elements in experimental animated music videos. I’m not sure if it’s suitable.

Part 1: Explore why visual language and auditory language can be translated into each other in experimental animation.

This part might start exploring with some development and history.

Émile Benveniste believes that there is a mutual translation relationship between different symbol systems.

The concept of “Synaesthesia”
Music and vision have the similarity of perceptual form.

There is indeed a perceptually convincing correspondence between color and sound based on shared expressive properties. (Arnheim, 1986)

Abstraction of both
Coordinate and complement each other.

The artist introduced music, a non-material art, to achieve free creation, seeking to apply musical methods to his own works.(Kandinsky and Sadler, 1977)

Part 2: Explore How visual language and auditory language Combinate and Express in experimental animation.

Explore through the analysis of the case. Such as color, rhythm, etc.

Correspondence of the overall structure, The relationship between animation symbols and music rhythm, etc.

Part 3: Influence

Extend artistic expression, strengthen audience resonance…

Part 4: Application
