Just a simple exercise.
Walk Cycle
The first is walk cycle. I’m not very good at this, but I still tried to create an ’emotional walking’, which is a kind of joyful, relaxed and complacent walking posture. This may seem stupide X( . The rig comes from Christoph (The Stoff) Schoch. https://thestoff.gumroad.com/l/qDidc
The move is a reference to traditional 2D animation, which might be more appropriate for a character like Mickey Mouse. This action looks a little weird on a character of this scale, and I slipped up in the selection of rig.
The leg movement still looks a little stiff and I will work on it and correct it later in the practice.
Walk Forward
Then I change to a rig that didn’t have much equipment. Spider-Gwen. The rig comes from Alex Salmar. https://alexsalmar.gumroad.com/l/spidergwen
The arm swing is not enough, the effect is not very good. But the biggest problem is still in the legs. When the leg goes forward, it pops up. There is a quick forward kick in the calf. Walking in the real world doesn’t seem like it. The whole movement also looked stiff.

Here is the reference picture and the reference video from the class.

I made a comparison and found that the problem may lie in the starting pose. The cartoon ball’s knee of the starting pose in the video is bent, which makes the connection between the first pose and the second pose more natural and much easier. But this looks like walking half squat. While the charactor’s knee of the starting pose in the picture is bent straight. This may cause problems for the cohesion of poses. I’m still trying to figure it out.
